That One Time We Found The Murray River... Underwater!
Hi there! It's me, Jessie, the one usually stuck behind the camera while our fearless (and slightly crazy) leader, Matt, leads us into the great unknown. Well, let me tell you about one of our recent exploits - our first trip to the Murray River when it was at full flood.
This trip was quite the spectacle, starting with Matt's announcement - "We're heading up to Bury to check out the rising river!" Great, I thought, nothing like a bit of potential water peril to spice up the day. We had Nick and Connor tagging along as well, a merry little band off on an adventure.
As we approached the river, the situation was, well, a bit more flooded than we had anticipated. Banks? What banks? We had a table for reference, except it was underwater. It was like the river had decided to go on a real estate expansion spree.
Then came the culinary adventure. Matt, in his infinite wisdom, decided to whip up a Thai-Korean chicken curry, without a recipe. The result? A hybrid concoction that was part chicken, part veggies, part... rice disaster. Not quite what you'd expect from a MasterChef, but hey, we're not exactly on a cooking show. It was a wild ride, with Matt juggling pots and pans while I tried not to laugh my head off behind the camera.
The next day, we decided to engage in some high-level canoe diplomacy with the river, led by our guide Kim. We went through cliffs, wetlands, and even under the Great River. The sight of hundreds of ants scrambling for the last bit of dry land was a poignant reminder of the sheer force of nature.
By the end of our trip, we had seen an aboriginal canoe, lost each other a few times in the vastness of the river, had a few laughs, and made some great memories. We even gave our taste buds a wild ride with Matt's "culinary experiment".
So, there you have it. Our first trip to the Murray River at full flood. A mix of humor, adventure, and slightly questionable cooking. But hey, it's all part of the Outback Escape!
